Excerpts from the animated video retelling the fate of Villa Khury
Developed with and based on an original idea by Ilana Salama Ortar “Revisiting Villa Khury” is exploring the history of the site of Villa Khury/The Prophets' Tower Mall in Haifa.
Together with Ilana, I researched ways of bringing the story and history of Villa Khury's historic site in Haifa into an exhibition format. We developed a 17 minutes long animation, which was projected from the ceiling onto the exhibition floor. The villa's outlines stay visible throughout the whole video and create a sense of spatial experience for the viewer.

“In 1994/95, when the Villa Khury project was first conceived reconciliation and coexistence seemed within reach but at present the situation remains a vicious circle. If you do not create coexistence, you promote violence. There is no middle way. There is no peaceful status quo. The two communities must find a way to coexist, or no progress can be made.” – Ilana Salama Ortar
