UMBAU is an online journal for the promotion of art, research, and design emerging from Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG). Each issue is accompanied by a unique colour scheme tinting the page in distinct colours. On top of this canvas, bubbles pop up and lead the visitor to the individual articles, combining both elements of play and seriousness in a novel format for a scientific journal.

SvelteKit served as technological base for the front-end. We integrated a physics system based on matter.js; the outline shapes are dynamically drawn and size themselves according to the content and post type delivered by the CMS.
